I have loads of great images from this session that I plan to keep under wraps as I may use them somehow this year for competitions.
But the 2nd image that I worked and decided to submit for IPC Photographic Open category this year was of Timmy. Tim has the most amazing, hilarious, stunning, variety of solo images you could fathom. He was funny, mad, sad, playful…..everything. He was the first one off the make up line so we were experimenting a lot to see how things would come off. The black backdrop was in the same room as the other clowns lined up getting their make up done by the amazing Ryan Brocksmith. We were all mesmerized watching Timmy pose. I’d ask for an emotion and he would present it in a way none of us would have thought of. He had us all glued to his every move as he posed and played with the concept. After looking at the images I had debated on a set of mugshots from each of the solo clown shots but ended up just choosing Timmy’s solo shot. I did not have a mugshot background so simply drew the lines and height chart. I found a marquee board to snap and use for the board texture (with my cell phone!).
Since the clown session occurred in May, I worked on this image on my laptop in Hawaii while looking over KBay. So if you see Groucho the Clown out and about, be sure to congratulate him! He and Dan Eggers will be on exhibition in Nashville with my other merit images.
